STAYING ENGAGED

As I have been saying for a while now, November 2nd does not signify the end of all of your hard work .. it is only the beginning.  Getting your candidates to Washington is the easy part compared to staying engaged and keep watch over their doings in Congress.  Tony Blankley explains what could happen if we fail to keep up with our future obligations after the election ...

If the tea partiers and other liberty lovers continue to engage Washington next year, then government shutdowns can work, vetoes can be overridden and public opinion can be rallied to help defeat Obamacare, higher taxes and deficits. If our public does not stay engaged, then the ever-organized left will force the GOP back into Washington as usual politics -- and our chance to reform our government will die. Let's prove the Washington cynics in both parties wrong. As it has in the last few years, the tea party movement must continue to provide both the backbone and the vision for the Washington GOP.

You have four days, folks.  Then the REAL fun starts!

FREE MARKET OR REGULATION ?

Here's a bulletin for The Chosen One. You know who I'm talking about ... the anti-capitalist who is currently, in his words, fundamentally transforming our country ... transforming our country by creating an economy designed by the government, rather than the private sector. Recent Rasmussen polls found that voters overwhelmingly prefer a free market economy to an economy managed by the government. Only 14% think government control of the economy is better than a free market economy. And this should tell you something, while 74% of Mainstream voters favor increased competition as a way to hold big business accountable, 70% of the Political Class prefer increased regulation. What is it with our political class - or as some call 'em "the elite" - that makes them love government? They see government as a means to controlling what they believe to be the injustices and inequalities in society. It's all about control.

THE VERY LAST FINAL PUSH!!!! YOU HAVE SEVEN (7) DAYS LEFT!!!

I AM RUNNING OUT OF THINGS TO SAY TO YOU ALL. THIS IS THE VERY LAST FINAL PUSH.
If you will remember, Barack Obama managed to turn out record numbers of voters in four different groups: black Americas, young people, independents and unions. Let's explore each of these groups and see where they stand two years later.

Black Americans: You heard me during the 2008 election .. I completely understood the reasons why black Americans would be driven to the polls to vote for the first black president. While I could not empathize, I understood based on the legacy of segregation and discrimination in this country. I can only imagine the pride some black voters felt when they cast that vote almost two years ago. Pride is one thing ... maturity is another, and it's time to understand that this particular symbol of our progress on race just did not and does not now have what it takes to be president. Look ... Barack Obama, though black, has never really felt the sting of discrimination. He grew up in the most multi-racial of American states. The problems faced by blacks stateside were virtually unknown in Hawaii. And you must admit that he has been pretty much absent on issues of race since he went to the White House. Oh, he did find the opportunity to call some police in Connecticut "stupid," but that's about it. Knowing what we know now, I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would support Barack Obama in the future, and that includes candidates running with Obama's blessing - those who will act as a rubber stamp for Obama's next two years. When it comes to these midterm elections, black voters can still make a major impact in supporting Obama and his policies by showing up and voting for Democrats.
The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies issued a study stating, "The extent of the Democrats' losses will depend on their ability to turn out their most loyal voters, and no voting bloc will be more important to them than African Americans .. If they can mobilize a strong Black turnout, the Democrats can significantly reduce their potential losses." Here's something you may want to think about. As long as Blacks cast automatic votes for Democrat candidates your vote will not be taken seriously. Democrats will assume you are going to vote for them, Republicans will assume they don't have your support. Now given that scenario ... why would they work particularly hard to either keep or gain your votes?

Now .. the youth vote. Voting is so not cool this year. Without a rock-star to send to Washington, young people have turned up their iPods and turned down the politics.
As this college sophomore puts it, "In most midterm elections, there's not that central person for us to rally around." That's what it is all about for these young people - having a rock-star-like figure that they can all rally around. It is not about their local Congressmen .. the people with the purse-strings in their district. It is not about their local school board or ballot initiatives. Those things aren't sexy. What is sexy is being "cool" and voting for Barack Obama. With him out of the picture, fewer than three in 10 voters under age 30 say they will definitely cast ballots in the election next week.

Independent voters: The people in the middle. In the 2008 election, these people leaned toward the left. Now they are skewed in the opposite direction, big time. In fact, Republicans are holding
a 14-point edge with Independents. However, one-third of voters are still undecided. So while many of them are leaning Republican, many have still not solidified their votes.

Unions: Organized labor has a particular vested interest in this election. Americans are aware of the stunt they have been pulling for years now, and when it comes to public sector unions, people are no longer willing to shell out taxpayer dollars to support union pensions, salaries or benefits. That would be why we are seeing last-minute efforts like this: The AFL-CIO has just launched its
"most sophisticated" get-out-the-vote drive ever, sending out 10 million pieces of mail during the final week of the campaign. Union goon Richard Trumka wants union workers to "get mad and do something about it" next Tuesday. He wants workers to .. are you ready for this? .. "Stand up for a fair break for working families." The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) has to date spent $87.5 million this election cycle, bragging that it is the "big dog." The union effort to keep Democrats in office is pathetic, but in the end it is always effective.
Also ... when talking about unions ... remember that the majority of unionized workers in this country now work for government. As government workers they have job protections and pension plans that are far better than those enjoyed in the private sector. They protect these jobs and pension plans by working to control who their bosses - the politicians - are. That's why you seem AFSCME spending over $87 million in this election. These unions have an interest only in growing and preserving the power of government. They certainly don't care about economic liberty or the future of freedom.

What Barack Obama did not have to face in 2008 was the Tea Party. This adds a new dimension of voters, some who have never been involved or even interested in politics until now. And these people will be coming to the polls in a big way, and they will not be voting for Democrats.
The latest NBC News/WSJ poll found that 35% of likely midterm voters are tea party backers and they plan to vote for Republicans by a margin of 84% to 10%.
The election is in one week. I hope you're engaged; and I hope you keep your enthusiasm for seven more days. You can catch up on all your back issues of People and US Weekly next Wednesday.

A DIFFERTENT IDEA FOR OUR FUTURE

Just days before the 2008 election, Barack Obama proclaimed that we were just five days away from fundamentally transforming America. Little did we realize what he meant by "fundamentally transforming" our country. Now, just a little over one week from the mid-term election, Obama says ...
"We've got a different idea about what the future should hold for America."
Oh really? Do tell Mr. President ... do you see a future where more Americans are more dependent on government than ever before? Because as of right now, under your rule, that is where we are headed. Or perhaps you would like an America where we put our tax code to better use "for the purposes of fairness." Maybe you would like an America where workers are collectively bargaining under the thumb of union goons who keep your party in power. Clearly you want an America where people look to the government for their healthcare. What about their retirement? Is your version of America's future one where the government overseas the retirement income of ALL Americans? Is that just another way you believe that you can make life in America more "fair?" Why, after all, should people be allowed to invest and save for their own retirement? What about the people who fail to accept that responsibility? Well ... that just wouldn't be right, would it? Is your vision for the future of America one where the government seizes all private retirement accounts so that the money can be distributed --- or would that be Redistributed - the way politicians think is best?
What other ideas do you have for America? In the future you see for America, does it include more freedom and personal responsibility or more government and dependency?
Obama is exactly right. He DOES have a different vision of what the future holds for America. His vision is where wealth is distributed on the basis of politically-determined "fairness," not as the just reward for hard work, personal responsibility and good decision making. Obama's vision for the future of America has no place for individual liberty; no place for economic freedom. His view is one of government dominance in virtually every segment of our lives. Is this the path you want to see your country pursue? Is this the life you want for your children and grandchildren?
You have EIGHT days.

YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK.... YOU HAVE 11 DAYS LEFT!!!!

Nanny state alert. Apparently parents are not doing a good enough job of teaching their own children how to eat. Rather than considering ones eating habits to be a personal or parental matter, the government now believes it to be a federal government matter. After all .. .any good ruler is going to want to control what, where, when and how you eat ... right? Oh, and it is going to use your tax dollars in the process!
The US Department of Agriculture is giving $2 million of taxpayer money to food behavior scientists. These scientists will use the money to implement marketing tricks to encourage kids to make healthier choices in the cafeteria. According the AP, "Some of the ideas include hiding chocolate milk behind plain milk, putting the salad bar near checkout, placing fruit in pretty baskets and accepting only cash as payment for desserts."
Unbelievable. With an average tax liability of $10,000 per family, this $2 million could have stayed in the pockets of 200 families at that school. The parents of these school children would have $10,000 more in their pockets to save for their child's college education. Instead, the federal government felt it was best to take that money at the point of a gun and give it to food behavior scientists to perform tests on school children in the cafeteria.

LEARNING FROM.....BRITIAN?

Who knew that Great Britain would come out on top as the fiscally disciplined Western model, acting to gets its countries finances in order. But the British unveiled some serious budget cuts this week that promise to eliminate the country's deficit in five years. It starts by getting rid of 500,000 government workers and cutting government spending by an average of 19% per agency. Programs like public housing, welfare, prisons, higher education, flood control and sports programs will all see their budgets decrease.
We will never have meaningful entitlement reform so long as a Democrat is in the White House. The reason is simple: the moocher class is responsible for Democrats into power. As for the size of government, our bureaucracy has GROWN in the wake of our economic collapse .... slashing government jobs would be counter-intuitive to an administration that genuinely believes that more government is the answer to our problems - that American greatness comes from government.
Will we take this approach, or will we continue to cater to the moochers - continuously validating their existence and their right to live off of the efforts of the productive class? If that is the case, we will be like France in short order, with the nation paralyzed by union workers and students clamoring to the streets demanding their "birthright of privileges" and signing the Community anthem.
Think about where this country is headed. Elections have consequences.
You have 11 days.

GET READY FOR RATE INCREASES

Barack Obama has explicitly stated that his healthcare plan would lower healthcare costs for Americans.  How many of you actually bought that line?  How many of you thought that just because it is Barack Obama, somehow the laws of economics would cease to exist and we would be able to have more people covered, more regulations on private coverage and lower costs?   And how many businesses that provide health insurance to its employees tried to explain that regulations established under ObamaCare would only RAISE healthcare costs for its employees?  That happens when you increase the regulatory and tax burdens on businesses to provide healthcare .. they end up passing those costs on to their employees.  And this is exactly what we are currently seeing.  It really sucks when you start to realize that this man you worshipped as "sort of a God" is horribly flawed and completely unqualified to hold the office you handed to him, isn't it?

It's that time of year when employers deliver bad news about next year's benefits. Chances are you'll learn that your 2011 health insurance tab will be sharply higher, as companies continue to shift the burden of rising costs onto their workers.

And it's not just premiums that are spiraling higher. You're also likely to be hit with higher deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums as well as bigger bills for doctor's visits and drugs.

What?  You mean Obamacare is going to cost me more money?  Nooooo!  It can't be?  Obama said it wouldn't cost me any more money?

Speaking of drugs, have you heard what is coming to you people with your Health Savings Accounts?  As of January 1st, employees who use flexible spending accounts (FSAs), health saving accounts (HSAs), or health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs) will soon need a doctor's note to pay for over 15,000 over-the-counter drugs including Tylenol, acid reducers, allergy medication, etc.  It gets better.  Fox News reports ...

The new rules will also prohibit the use of FSA or HRA debit cards provided by administrative plans for over-the-counter purchases, because the IRS says there's no way to prove the drugs were prescribed.

The IRS says any money removed from HSA accounts to pay for medical expenses bought without a prescription will be included as taxable income and subject to an additional tax of 20 percent.

Don't get mad at me .. get mad at yourself that you weren't more vigilant and allowed these Democrats with these dreams and schemes of government-run healthcare to gain control power in Washington.  These rules were designed to destroy your private health savings accounts.  If you haven't yet figured out that Obamacare was written to destroy the private health care market ... then you probably don't understand the workings of a pencil.

But wait!  There's more!  Under Obamacare you will be paying more for your health benefits under ObamaCare - our imperial federal government is then going to seize more of your money to pay for ....... $30 million in grants to "help consumers see the benefits" of ObamaCare!  This includes helping consumers file appeals and grievances against their existing health insurance plans.  No I'm not making this stuff up, folks.  You have twelve days. I sure hope you're still paying attention.  Unless you're a dedicated member of the moocher class you are going to absolutely hate what happens to your health care under this plan for a government takeover.

REDUCING GOVERNMENT

Is anybody else just slightly concerned that Republicans don't know how to reduce the size of government?  They've claimed to be experts before and then look what happened.  Even if we do have a few standouts, who is to say that their brand of conservatism will reign supreme in Congress?  This is what I mean by holding their feet to the fire.  November 2nd is not the end, it is the beginning.

Having said that ... we, as constituents, are going to have to keep our rational thinking hat's on.  Republicans may well have to do some things early on that will be absolutely galling to the people who put them back in power.  Stick with me here, folks.  I'll do what I can to explain these things and the options available to us ... we're in a deep hole and there are going to be scrapes and bruises as we climb out.

TOO DAMNED MUCH GOVERNMENT!!!!

$100 million ... that is the average tax burden of 10,000 American families. Last week the Department of Housing and Urban Development announced $100 million in grants to "to support more livable and sustainable communities across the country." This Sustainable Communities Planning Grant Program is a new program funded for the first time this year. Did you hear that? New spending! Another $100 million of borrowed money so that our imperial federal government can "create more housing choices, make transportation more efficient and reliable, reinforce existing investments, and support the kinds of neighborhoods that attract businesses."
HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan says, "Planning our communities smarter means parents will spend less time driving and more time with their children; more families will live in safe, stable communities near good schools and jobs; and more businesses will have access to the capital and talent they need to grow and prosper."
The government doesn't plan communities. Who among you would really want to live in a government-planned community? Can you imagine what happens when considerations of political correctness and multiculturalism play a hard hand in the planning of the "sustainable community" you're going to have to live in? I'm promising you ... in the government-planned "sustainable community" of tomorrow I can imagine a scenario where you submit an application to purchase a home or condo. Your application then goes to the Sustainability Council for approval. Soon you get a letter telling you that in the interests of multiculturalism you will not be allowed to proceed with your purchase of the home unless you can find an Hispanic family that is willingto move into the community also. Racial balances must be maintained.
Let's stop this nonsense now. Communities are "planned," if you will, by the free actions and choices of the private sector people who develop them based on marketing surveys or other information gleaned from the private sector.
Too damned much government.

Is it better to vote out of fear, or is it better to vote out of love?

Is it better to vote out of fear, or is it better to vote out of love? The ascendance of Barack Obama to his throne in the White House is clearly what happens when people vote based on love ... pure, un-adulterated, blind love. But now Obama says that Americans' "fear and frustration" is what is driving them to the polls this year. He says, "Part of the reason that our politics seems so tough right now, and facts and science and argument do not seem to be winning the day all the time, is because we're hard-wired not to always think clearly when we're scared. And the country is scared."
Wait a minute here! Wasn't it just last week that the Democrats were telling us that the Tea Partiers were angry? They were insane? Now they're scared? What is Obama going to do? Is he going to keep guessing until he actually hits it?
Well ... maybe he has. He is absolutely right - our country is scared. People who love freedom and liberty are scared that their children will never enjoy those ideals as set forth in the founding documents of our nation. People are afraid that our Constitution has been put in a recycling pile. People are afraid that the days of limited government are over and that there will be no stopping the growth of our government and therefore its ability to reach into our pockets and our lives. If we weren't scared at this point about where our country is headed, THEN I would be worried. The fact that there are so many Americans who are alarmed by our current government makes me feel slightly more hopeful for our future. We need to make these politicians so fearful for their jobs that they cannot do anything but be mindful of the oath that they swore to uphold upon taking office. I know I am probably over-doing it with the Founding Father quotes lately, but never has there been a time where their words, writings and fundamental ideas have been so crucial. So you're going to love this one:
When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. - Thomas Jefferson
We have gone too long re-electing incumbents out of laziness and selfishness. It is time to hold their feet to the fire - Republicans included - and get our country back on track. Do you realize the election is just 15 days away? I'd rather see every election be like this one - where people are scared for their lives and driven to the polls to do something about it - then one where people are driven to the polls based on the idolization of a false prophet.

ECONOMIC ISSUES AT THE FOREFRONT

The coalition Ronald Reagan assembled of fiscal and economic conservatives, evangelicals, and national-security advocates has always been dominated by the social issues at the grassroots level. While free-market economic conservatives lived in New York and dutifully attended their Club for Growth meetings and national-security types inhabited Washington, the Republican social conservatives dominated the grassroots of the party. They alone could turn out the numbers to rallies and to the polls on primary or Election Day.

Now, all that has changed. It is the fiscal conservatives and free-market supporters who own the Republican streets. Through the Tea Party, they have come to dominate the grassroots of the GOP. It is as if an invisible primary were held for supremacy at the grassroots and the Tea Party won.

MTV TOWNHALL

We are back to this again.  Maybe Obama thought he could get away with it because he was talking to a young crowd, but at the MTV Townhall yesterday the first question up essentially boiled down to this: With the economy going the way it is, why should we still support you?  So what did Obama try to get away with?  In his answer to the question, he tried to pawn off this idea that he has cut taxes for 98% of Americans.  No, he did not say "taxpayers" he said "American people."  Sigh.  How hard is this to understand?  How can Obama cut taxes for 98% of Americans when 47% of Americans don't pay any taxes?  I'll tell you how he did that.  He sent out $250 checks.  You see, in the wonderful world of Democrats, when the government takes money from a producer .. or borrows money from the Chinese ... and gives that money to a middle or low income American ... that's a "tax cut."  Amazing how that happens, isn't it?
Sadly more Americans than ever are members of the moocher class, with the productive - the people paying taxes - on the decline.  But under ObamaLogic, adding more people to the government dole and giving people hand outs is considered a "tax cut."  I just don't understand it, and I don't understand how so many Americans can buy this horsesqueeze.

PrezBo also took a page out of the Warren Buffet handbook when it comes to taxes.  One of the questions asked of Obama was about Social Security.  While Obama says that "all options are on the table," he went on to explain that the questioner pays Social Security taxes (payroll taxes) on his income up to $106,000.  However, Obama went on to lament that Warren Buffet "makes a lot more than that" but doesn't pay any more into Social Security.  Now what is wrong with this example?  It is quite simple .. even the UGA "evil corporation" student may be able to grasp this one: The questioner probably pays income taxes. Warren Buffet pays capital gains taxes. The questioner wouldn't be paying Social Security on his capital gains either.  Capital gains tax rates are lower than income tax rates and are not subject to payroll taxes.  So no, Warren Buffet is not paying payroll taxes on all the money he makes because he is not earning that money as income.

Ugh.  Re-educating an entire American electorate is hard.  But somebody's gotta do it.

RUNNING FROM OBAMA

The single most amazing thing in this year’s campaigns is that no one is defending President Obama’s legislative accomplishments.
Obama’s impact has been revolutionary: radically changing our health-care system, betting our national solvency on “stimulus,” erasing the line between the public and private sectors. Yet there is an almost total lack of support for his program on the stump.

Democrats’ campaigns consist almost entirely of personal attacks on their opponents. If they dabble in issues, they go for those on the periphery of our politics, trying to milk fear from GOP discussions of privatizing Social Security and tax reform.
But nobody is arguing that the stimulus worked or that ObamaCare is a good thing or that GM is recovering because Obama bailed it out.
Most Democrats mention Obama or his program only to distance themselves from the man and his ideas. Even those who vote with him 95 percent of the time herald their “independence” and run as far from him as they can.
The only Democrat who has stepped forward to boldly defend ObamaCare in his campaign is Wisconsin’s Sen. Russ Feingold. Yet, since he started airing ads applauding the president’s health-care reforms, he’s fallen from 8 points behind to 12 points — which offers a clue as to why nobody else has taken up the chant.
Even as the Dems go far out of their way to avoid a national message, Republicans are remarkably disciplined in their advocacy. They cite the Obama legislative record, often in quite impartial terms, and leave it up to the voters to turn against the Democrats who support it. They have only to mention the words — “stimulus,” “TARP,” “ObamaCare” — to drive voters to their ranks.
It’s not unusual for candidates from the president’s party to avoid him on the stump and beg off from his events in their districts. But this is the first time so many lawmakers have run away from their own voting records.
One can well understand if they refuse to embrace Republican descriptions of their bills. But they won’t even step up with their own descriptions, to try to sell the positive aspects of their own legislation. The president’s program is an orphan.

18 DAYS AND A NAP LEFT!!!!

The days are ticking by to Election Day, as we continue to get conflicting signals on the judgment that's going to be delivered by the voters.
If you like the Democratic side of the ball, then there were a flurry of encouraging polls out yesterday, including everything from the Governor's races in Maine, Rhode Island and Ohio to a blockbuster poll out of Washington State's Senate race.

That poll had Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) up by 15 points - but that's way out of line with other polls, that have shown Republican Dino Rossi and Murray locked in a very tight race.

But I as wrote that paragraph, another poll came in from CNN/Time, which showed Murray ahead by eight points. So, maybe that race isn't as close as we think. We'll find out in 19 days.

Over in the House, the Capitol Hill newspaper "The Hill" put out another dozen polls on House races, which again showed the GOP to be in a strong position.

The polls examined "open" seats - seats where the incumbent is not running for re-election. 10 of the 12 races had Republicans in front, including one seat that Democrats have held in Wisconsin for the last 41 years.

Republicans were leading in TN 8, WA 3, AR 1, WI 7, PA 7, NH 2 and MI 1.

Democrats had the advantage in WV 1 and IL 10.

Another race that could be swinging to the Republicans is in Hawaii, where everyone in D.C. thought that Rep. Charles Djou (R-HI), who won a special election this summer, was going to be defeated, now that Democrats have agreed to back one candidate.

But the polls are showing a different story, as Djou has even moved slightly ahead in some polls. That would be an unexpected gift for Republicans.

Republicans also seem to be close in the race for Governor in the Aloha State, where former Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D) was assumed to be the overwhelming favorite. But a poll out last week - by a Democratic leaning firm - showed Abercrombie ahead by only 2 points.

On the Senate side, other than the poll mentioned above from Washington State, most races have held in place this week as new poll numbers have emerged, leaving the Republicans within striking distance.

In West Virginia, a new poll from Rasmussen showed Republican John Raese with a 3 point lead over Gov. Joe Manchin (D). Manchin had trailed in an earlier poll by 6 points.

Another poll in Nevada showed Sharron Angle (R) ahead of Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) by just one point.

West Virginia, Nevada and Washington State could be the keys for Republicans on Election Night, as Democratic wins there would extinguish any GOP hopes to take over the Senate in January.

The clock is ticking. Have you voted yet?

STEALING YOUR RETIREMENT MONEY

The Democrats got their "universal healthcare." What's to make you think that they wouldn't go for "universal retirement" next? This isn't some fairytale that I am making up to scare you right before an election. This stuff is actually being discussed in Washington as we speak.
If you leave the Democrats in power I guarantee you that a move will be made to seize private retirement accounts. Those accounts will blended in some way with the Social Security system to guarantee some level of retirement income for every American. The Democrats will have several excuses. They'll say that they're afraid people will just take their retirement money and spend it foolishly ... and that the government must step in to prevent this. They'll say that people will borrow irresponsibly against their retirement funds prior to retirement ... and the government must step in to prevent this. They'll say that it just isn't "fair" that some people are going to enjoy a more comfortable retirement than others .. and the government is here to make things more fair. Whatever the reason, the Democrats will be unable to ignore the trillions of dollars that are sitting - out of their grasp - in these retirement accounts. Brace yourselves.

JOBS KILLING MACHINE

No, this is not a joke. The first paragraph of a New York Times story that appeared October 8, 2010 ...
The Obama administration is acknowledging that its new offshore drilling safety regulations will raise costs for the oil and gas industry -- and may also delay some offshore development, slightly increase gas prices and kill some jobs.
What?? The administration acknowledges a policy that will raise energy prices and kill jobs ... and everyone is OK with this?

RANDOM THOUGHTS AND MUSINGS OF A POLITICALLY INCORRECT AMERICAN

Rumors in Florida that Democrat Kendrick Meek will drop out of the Senate race and throw his support to Charlie Crist. Hmmmmm. Perhaps Obama operatives are quietly offering Meek some sort cushy presidential appointment if he'll get out of the race. That's the Obama style.
Obama is telling the crowds that the U.S. will have to "borrow" the money to give high achievers a tax cut. Now there's an interesting thought. "We have to borrow money to let high achievers keep the money they earn." Doesn't this lend credence to the idea that Democrats believe that all wealth belongs to the government?
Teachers unions are launching attacks on charter schools across the country. Do you think they're doing this for the kids? Then you probably think Obama is a good president. Get in the "hopeless" line.
The New York Post reported that charter schools with union teachers scored a full grade lower on performance tests than non-union charter schools. Are the American people starting to get it? Unions drag down our students! If you care about the education of your child it is time for you to start doing what you can to get unions out of government schools.
I have the new Michael Connelly book, "The Reversal" waiting to be read on my Kindle. He's easily the best crime writer drawing breath. Trouble is .... Gotta finish "Restoring the American Dream" from Robert Ringer, and "The Roots of Obama's Rage" by Dinesh D'Souza.
We have 21 days.

YOU'RE FROM A UNION? OKAY A WAIVER FOR YOU!!!

We're talking ObamaCare here. You know .. that wonderful "we've got to pass it so you can see what's in it" piece of legislation that is going to make our search for health care a no-brainer?
Now we're supposed to be a nation of law, right? The way I learned it was that in the United States the law applied to everyone; rich and poor - common citizen or legislator - everyone had an equal obligation to abide by the law. Well, that's not exactly the way it is working out for Obama's occupying forces.
Here's the way it works in ObamaWorld. Legislation is passed by the congress. It is then signed into the law by the president. At that point the law applies to everyone, right? Well ..... er .... no, actually. It seems that in ObamaWorld the law applies to whomever Obama thinks it should apply to ... and it doesn't apply to those Obama wants to skate free. That's the way we want it to work, right? The law is passed and goes on the books ... and then the president decides who has to obey and who doesn't.
As I said ... in this particular case the law is ObamaCare, and the ObamaCare provision that is causing the problems is the requirement that companies raise the minimum annual benefit included in "Mini-Med" low-cost health plans for seasonal, part time and low wage workers. McDonalds, for instance, was offering a Mini-med plan for it's low-wage and part time workers that would pay a maximum of $2000 a year in benefits for around $2.00 a day. ObamaCare would have required McDonalds to raise the minimum benefits level, so McDonalds let the word slip out that it was going to cancel the plan. Obama quickly stepped in and ordered a waiver for McDonalds. So, now we know that this law doesn't apply to McDonalds. Next up to the plate we find a branch of the American Federation of Teachers. They wanted a waiver too ... and Obama wasted no time saying yes. Nothing is out of the question when unions come calling at the White House.
In the meantime there are countless small businesses in this country who might like to be exempted from this law as well. Good luck. Perhaps if you would unionize your workforces you might get Obama's attention.

barack obama anti america quotes

"Whatever we once were, we're no longer a Christian nation."

"America does not presume to know what is best for everyone"

"As a student of history, I also know civilization's debt to Islam."

"In America, there's a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world."

"The United States is still working through some of our own darker periods in our history."

"Too often, the United States has not pursued and sustained engagement with our neighbors."

"The United States will be willing to acknowledge past errors where those errors have been made."

"So let me be clear: no system of government can or should be imposed upon one nation by any other."

"We need to internalize this idea of excellence. Not many folks spend a lot of time trying to be excellent."

"Islam is not part of the problem in combating violent extremism - it is an important part of promoting peace."

"Our country still struggles with the legacies of slavery and segregation, the past treatment of Native Americans."

"The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person...."

"That’s what I’m opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics."

"My job to the Muslim world is to communicate that the Americans are not your enemy. We sometimes make mistakes. We have not been perfect."

"So the record is clear: Rather than keeping us safer, the prison at Guantanamo has weakened American national security. It is a rallying cry for our enemies."

"I would like to think that with my election and the early decisions that we've made, that you're starting to see some restoration of America's standing in the world."

"The Holy Koran tells us, "O mankind! We have created you male and a female; and we have made you into nations and tribes so that you may know one another."

"While the United States has done much to promote peace and prosperity in the hemisphere, we have at times been disengaged, and at times we sought to dictate our terms."

"The danger I think is when the United States or any country thinks that we can simply impose these values on another country with a different history and a different culture"

"So I read the book to help me understand what it is that makes white people so afraid, their demons, the way ideas get twisted around. It helps me understand how people learn to hate."

"...I've got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby."

"It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

"America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles - principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings."

"That's why, in the United States, we recently ordered the prison at Guantanamo Bay closed. That's why we prohibited--without exception or equivocation--the use of torture. All of us have to change. And sometimes change is hard."

"Too often, the United States has not pursued and sustained engagement with our neighbors. We have been too easily distracted by other priorities, and have failed to see that our own progress is tied directly to progress throughout the Americas."

"In America, there's a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive."

"You know, the truth is that right after 9/11, I had a pin," Obama said. "Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq War, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest.

"In other words, we went off course. And this is not my assessment alone. It was an assessment that was shared by the American people who nominated candidates for President from both major parties who, despite our many differences, called for a new approach--one that rejected torture and one that recognized the imperative of closing the prison at Guantanamo Bay."

"So don't be discouraged by what's happened in the last few weeks. Don't be discouraged that we have to acknowledge potentially we've made some mistakes. That's how we learn. But the fact that we are willing to acknowledge them and then move forward, that is precisely why I am proud to be President of the United States, and that's why you should be proud to be members of the CIA."

"Unfortunately, faced with an uncertain threat, our government made a series of hasty decisions. I believe that many of these decisions were motivated by a sincere desire to protect the American people. But I also believe that all too often our government made decisions based on fear rather than foresight; that all too often our government trimmed facts and evidence to fit ideological predispositions."

"In fact, part of the rationale for establishing Guantanamo in the first place was the misplaced notion that a prison there would be beyond the law--a proposition that the Supreme Court soundly rejected. Meanwhile, instead of serving as a tool to counter terrorism, Guantanamo became a symbol that helped al Qaeda recruit terrorists to its cause. Indeed, the existence of Guantanamo likely created more terrorists around the world than it ever detained."

PORKULUS STIMULUS WASTE

Lots of buzz today about the microchip-implanted trash bins in Cleveland that will tell city collectors when residents haven’t recycled.
It would be a stretch to say that Big Brother will hang out in Clevelanders’ trash cans, but the city plans to sort through curbside trash to make sure residents are recycling — and fine them $100 if they don’t.
The move is part of a high-tech collection system the city will roll out next year with new trash and recycling carts embedded with radio frequency identification chips and bar codes.
The chips will allow city workers to monitor how often residents roll carts to the curb for collection. If a chip show a recyclable cart hasn’t been brought to the curb in weeks, a trash supervisor will sort through the trash for recyclables.
The city expanded a pilot program for the carts and will now use $2.5 million in local tax money to fund the expansion.
Guess what else?
You are helping pay for this eco-snitch program in other cities with federal stimulus money.
From the Coburn-McCain stimulus waste report released earlier this month, we learn that $500,000 of the porkulus went to Dayton, Ohio for nosy trash cans.
Yeah. It stinks. And taxpayers don’t need any high-falutin’ technology to detect it.

MORE TAXES YOU MAY NOT EVEN REALIZE YOU ARE GONNA PAY

Even though politicians in Washington went home without a vote on tax increases, is it possible that your taxes have already gone up this year? The answer is yes for 23 million Americans. And it could cost an average of $3,900 per taxpayer this year alone. How is this the case? The Alternative Minimum Tax. As of December 31, 2009 many middle-class taxpayers no longer paid AMT. However, if Congress fails to act on tax increases before the end of this year, 23 million American households that did not have to pay the AMT last year will have to pay it on the income they have been earning since January 1 of this year.
Hope and change! The inability to make the hard decisions is defining our recovery as a nation. In that sense, nothing has really changed at all.

HOW TO ELIMINATE THE DEFICIT

First of all .. you realize that we're not going to get rid of this deficit overnight ... but eliminate the deficit we must. The Congressional Budget Office has this nifty little bit of information for you. We can eliminate the deficit .. and do it relatively quickly ... WITHOUT cutting spending or raising taxes. Three scenarios:
  • If we cap federal spending at current levels and extend the Bush tax cuts the budget will be balanced by 2016.

  • If we limit increases in government spending to a rate of 1 percent above inflation and population growth the budget will balance by 2017.

  • If we limit increases in government spending to a rate of 2 percent above inflation and population growth the budget balances by 2020.
So ... why the push to raise taxes on the rich? For some it's because they truly believe, in spite of decades of evidence to the contrary, that increasing taxes will result in increased government revenues. To arrive at this conclusion these people have to ignore all of the previous tax CUTS, not increases, that resulted in increased tax revenue. As for Obama ... the reason for extending the Bush tax cuts is more sinister. For history's most incompetent president (Sorry, Jimmy) it's all about wealth redistribution. Obama believes that these evil people who make over $200,000 a year have made that money by exploiting and plundering other people. Besides, as Obama has said, these people have made enough money anyway.

HUMP DAY FACTS AND FIGURES

Spending. The ugly truth is that Democrats and Republicans have become proficient at growing the size of government and using your tax dollars (and a lot they don't even yet have) to spend money on useless program, regulations and re-election projects. The fact is that our government spends more money on maintaining its own existence and the existence of the moocher class than anything else. Here are just a few facts I've happened upon that should remind you why it is so important to go to the polls in less than one month. Here's the harsh reality: You can't save yourself for our imperial federal government, but you may be able to save your grandchildren.
  • Forty-one cents of every dollar the federal government spends we have to borrow from our kids and grandkids

  • Between 2011 and 2018, Obama would spend $4.9 trillion more than Bush had planned to. That does not include spending in the name of "economic stimulus"

  • If Obama had simply kept Bush's spending policies in place, federal deficits over the next eight years would be 60 percent lower. In 2018, we'd have a deficit of just $188 billion, instead of the projected $996 billion under Obama's budget.

4 WEEKS LEFT

The Countdown of Tuesdays is truly on now, as Election Day is in exactly four weeks. Can the Democrats use this time to turn around the 2010 Campaign, or are Republicans on their way to a rout?
The White House on Monday was once more touting the angle that Democrats are on the path back to at least limiting their losses this year, arguing the President is doing a good job to spur voter interest in blue states.

At the regular White House Briefing for reporters, Presidential Press Secretary Robert Gibbs predicted that Democrats would hold on to Congress in the November elections.

"I still believe that the Democrats will control the House after Election Day in 2010," Gibbs said, adding that he felt the same on the Senate.

"I think we'll control both after the election."

But as Democrats noted polls like one from Newsweek that showed a five point advantage for Democrats on the generic Congressional ballot question, there were fresh signs that Republicans are still running strong in a trio of key Senate races.

The polls from Marist University, done in conjunction with McClatchy News Service, gave GOP Senate candidates a 9-point lead in Pennsylvania, an 8-point lead in Colorado and a 7-point lead in Wisconsin.

All three of those seats are held by Democrats, and are key to any GOP dreams of taking over the Senate in November.

A fourth seat in Connecticut did have some positive news for Democrats, as a Public Policy Polling survey gave state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal a 12 point lead over Republican Linda McMahon. But it must be pointed out that PPP is a firm that leans to the Democratic side.

And there were two bubbling stories about GOP Senate nominees in Nevada and Delaware, one involving a secret recording of Sharron Angle and the other a 2006 debate where Christine O'Donnell said she had access to secret intelligence that showed China was plotting to take over America.

And then, there was Bozo-Gate. Yep, you read that right. The issue? Whether Christine O'Donnell had told the truth several years ago that her father had played Bozo on TV in Philadelphia.

I just can't make this stuff up.
