Is it better to vote out of fear, or is it better to vote out of love? The ascendance of Barack Obama to his throne in the White House is clearly what happens when people vote based on love ... pure, un-adulterated, blind love. But now Obama says that Americans' "fear and frustration" is what is driving them to the polls this year. He says, "Part of the reason that our politics seems so tough right now, and facts and science and argument do not seem to be winning the day all the time, is because we're hard-wired not to always think clearly when we're scared. And the country is scared."
Wait a minute here! Wasn't it just last week that the Democrats were telling us that the Tea Partiers were angry? They were insane? Now they're scared? What is Obama going to do? Is he going to keep guessing until he actually hits it?
Well ... maybe he has. He is absolutely right - our country is scared. People who love freedom and liberty are scared that their children will never enjoy those ideals as set forth in the founding documents of our nation. People are afraid that our Constitution has been put in a recycling pile. People are afraid that the days of limited government are over and that there will be no stopping the growth of our government and therefore its ability to reach into our pockets and our lives. If we weren't scared at this point about where our country is headed, THEN I would be worried. The fact that there are so many Americans who are alarmed by our current government makes me feel slightly more hopeful for our future. We need to make these politicians so fearful for their jobs that they cannot do anything but be mindful of the oath that they swore to uphold upon taking office. I know I am probably over-doing it with the Founding Father quotes lately, but never has there been a time where their words, writings and fundamental ideas have been so crucial. When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. - Thomas Jefferson
We have gone too long re-electing incumbents out of laziness and selfishness. It is time to hold their feet to the fire - Republicans included - and get our country back on track. Do you realize the election is just 15 days away? I'd rather see every election be like this one - where people are scared for their lives and driven to the polls to do something about it - then one where people are driven to the polls based on the idolization of a false prophet.
