A Suggestion For Mr. Holder

Eric Holder seems to have a problem.  He would like to see an end to "stand your ground" laws that allow people to defend themselves in public places against life threatening acts by an aggressor.

I have a message for you, Mr. Holder.  It's short, but it's from my heart, and it's not subject to your point of view.

I have a right, and a duty, to defend myself and others from the actions of an aggressor, whether in public or not.  My life and the life and safety of those I care about is a gift from God, Mr Holder, not you or anybody else.  I have a moral obligation to protect that life, and I promise that I will do that, anytime I feel it is morally justified by the circumstances.  To be sure, if my actions result in harm to anyone else, I acknowledge my responsibility in that regard.   But the matter of whether my actions in that situation are or are not morally justified is a matter between me and my Creator sir, and you're not part of that conversation.

You can write any law you want, you can remove or modify any right you may think you have the authority to, but none of it will have any effect on how I respond in those circumstances, Mr. Holder.  My duty is to a higher power, and my rights pursuant to that duty are not subject to your opinions.

In this matter sir, your opinion is irrelevant.

I could remind you that since Florida passed the "stand your ground" law in 2005, the rate of violent crime there has dropped 23 percent.  I could remind you that anytime the government has interfered with peoples right to protect themselves, crime rates have increased.

But you already know all that sir, and you don't care.  Your agenda is not about safety, it's about control.

If I was willing to surrender my rights to you, God would allow me to do that, but He would rightly hold me to account for anything that happens to those around me as a consequence.

So I think you might perhaps look around for something useful to do with your time.  Maybe, for instance, track down and recover every one of the weapons you sold to Mexican drug cartels.  Just a suggestion.
