What Should Work, vs What Actually Works

In his remarks about Iran, made January 13, President Obama made a comment that inadvertently reveals a lot about why his presidency is such a shambles.  With respect to the Iranian nuclear deal he said:

"It's going to be difficult, it's going to be challenging, but ultimately this is how diplomacy should work".

What strikes me about that statement is the fact that his actions regarding Iran are based on wishful thinking about how diplomacy  "should" work, rather than how it "actually" works.

This man is driven not by what the law requires, not by due regard for this country's best interests, but by fantasy, and by what best serves his personal political fortunes.  This is how healthcare should work.  This is how the economy should work.  This is how our American society should work.  At no time has he made any effort to understand how any of it actually works.  His belief in his own infallibility relieves him of the need to do that.

We need one of two things today:   A President who, for starters,  respects the Constitution, and understands who works for whom, or a Congress that has the bipartisan courage to act under Article II of that Constitution.  Either would actually work.
